Jan 04, 2010 - Every year, the OmniTicket Network team comes together to help those who need it most during the holidays. This year, that effort hit closer to home than anyone expected.
It began when the group was discussing which charity to support. That’s when Trish Wieland from the Orlando office told the story of Jimmy Bartoli – her brother-in-law who was battling cancer. Last year, Jimmy had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and began a long battle to overcome the disease. During the many rounds of chemotherapy, Jimmy’s liver was destroyed, and doctors told him a liver transplant was his only hope for survival.
Thankfully, Jimmy received a new liver in September of this year. However, the cost of the transplant exceeded $500,000, not to mention the monthly expenses which range from $2,000-$5,000. Jimmy’s family launched a donation drive through the National Foundation for Transplants to help offset these overwhelming costs.
When the OmniTicket team learned of these difficulties from one of their own co-worker’s, they unanimously voted to make a charitable contribution to help with Jimmy’s transplant expenses – making this holiday a little brighter for everyone involved.
